Welcome. Using this site means you're agreeing to the following, so take a minute to actually read it rather than scrolling straight past, I promise it's not that long.

Using the site

USAPetSociety exists to share general pet care information, nothing more official than that. You're welcome to read, share links to articles, and reference what's here, as long as you credit the source. What you can't do is copy whole articles and republish them elsewhere as if they were yours. I put real time into writing this stuff.

Who owns what

The articles, photos, and other original content on this site belong to USA Pet Society unless stated otherwise. A few images might be used with permission or under license from their original owners, and I try to credit those properly. Want to use something from the site for your own project? Just ask first, most of the time the answer is yes.

This isn't professional advice

I want to be really clear about this one. Nothing on this site is meant to replace advice from an actual licensed veterinarian, doctor, or lawyer, whichever applies. Pets are individuals, what worked for my dog might not work for yours, and general information can only take you so far. When something matters, especially your pet's health, talk to a professional, not a blog.

Comments and messages

If comments are open on a post, keep it civil. Don't post anything hateful, misleading, or that steps on someone else's rights. I reserve the right to edit or delete comments, and if someone keeps causing trouble, they'll get blocked from commenting further. This isn't complicated, just be a decent person.

Links heading elsewhere

Some posts link out to other websites for extra reading or as a source. Once you click through, that's outside my control, both in terms of what's on those pages and whether they're trustworthy. Click at your own judgment.

If something goes wrong

I do my best to keep everything accurate and current, but I'm human, and pet care advice that's generally true doesn't always apply to every situation. USA Pet Society isn't liable for anything that goes wrong as a result of following information found here. Use your own judgment, and again, when in doubt, ask a vet, not a website.

These terms might change

As the site grows or things shift, these terms might get updated. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as accepting the new version, so it's worth a glance now and then.
